Japanese Landscapes, from Hokusai to Hasui
21 JUN 2017 - 02 OCT 2017
From June 21 to October 2, 2017, MNAAG offers a journey through its collection of landscapes prints. A new genre that exalts the passage of the seasons and the emblematic places of Japan, the landscape sees its full bloom in the art of Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849) and Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858) of the Ukiyo-e. The exhibition, which boasts some sixty works, is also the occasion to present newly acquired prints by Kawase Hasui (1883-1957), magnificent modern echoes of this art, probably the most emblematic of Japan.
Sublime exhibition ! Many details on the estampes. The only thing is the explanations are not well placed But it does not change the fact that the exhibition make you travel. And the Guimet Museum is a fantastic place to visit as well.
